wii fun

elda and yun jing ?sp? (aka ybae) came over the other weekend for tina's genuinely german goulash (YUM!) and to help us break in our wii. tina is our undisputed wii boxing champion, although i have to say elda gave her quite a run for her money! everyone woke up the next day SORE. not surprising since all of our wii fitness ages are running in the senior citizen range! who knew a gaming system could make me feel out of shape?

lesley and sam's wedding

lesley and sam got married at the botanical gardens in st. louis two weekends ago and arthur and i were lucky enough to be asked to be a part of it! it was bee-YOO-ti-ful!! we arrived in st. louis on friday to clear blue skies forcast for the entire weekend and temps juuuust right in the mid 70s. lesley, her mom, her sister and i got our nails done while they told me all about lesley's drunk antics in the limo from her bachelorette party that i wasn't able to make =(. (mini-aside here, those nail ladies were awesome, my mani and pedi are still PERFECT 2 weeks later, not a chip in site...amazing.) anyway, the rehearsal at the gardens went smoothly and rehearsal dinner was yummy at a cute little italian restaurant.

saturday morning we woke up to again clear blue skies -- seriously, sam and lesley couldn't have custom ordered more perfect weather. the gals all got ready at the salon and helped lesly into her dress at the gardens. she was beautiful! i loved her hair, very vintage 1940's hollywood glam. the gardens of course were breathtaking and the ceremony was short, sweet, and very poignant. at the reception they had an open bar serving bloody marys and mimosas (mmm!) but the best part was the creme brulee french toast (dee-vine!). they also set up an awesome candy bar, of which i freely partook (heehee). they hired a string quartet for the ceremony, but had a darling little jazz band that played romantic standards during the reception who were awesome. i loved the toasts given by the best man (sam's bro), maid of honor (lesley's sister), and her mom. seriously, best wedding toasts than any other wedding we've attended. both touching and funny. they made their getaway in a zippy little crossfire convertible (super cute!) at about 3pm (wedding started at 11am). it was perfect. everyone, incl the bride and groom was relaxed, smiling, and was having a great time. the setting was soo gorgeous there was no way the pictures wouldn't be fab..and they are! check out lesley and sam's slideshow here. make sure you listen with the sound on cuz it's so cute with the music. the photographer did a great job really capturing all the emotions of the day.

this was the first morningy-brunchy wedding we've been to and i have to say i really love the timing. after the wedding everyone was able to change and roam around st. louis. we ended up going to the city museum which is not at all what you expect when you hear museum. it's actually a building that houses a jungle gym on steroids. it is AWESOME. outside is the biggest one and you can literally crawl up a series of wire tubing 5 stories in the air, suspended only by a steel mesh. lawsuit waiting to happen, but freakin'f fun nonetheless! def recommend going if you are ever in st louis. afterwards we ate at mosaic which was absolutely delish, then dropped by lesley and sam's to check out their new house where they were hanging out with their families. 1st time i've ever been in a house basement. heehee, i'm such a houstonian!

we flew home on sunday..back to the drudgery of work while lesley and sam whisked away to the gorgeous mexican riviera. can't wait to see the pics!

she's been in germany for almost two months defending her thesis and adding a little bit of knowledge to the world. =)

we're pickng her up for the airport in a little while. we're going to take her out to bamboo house as a welcome back. we've been looking for an excuse to go there for a while. japanese, vietnamese, chinese, thai fusion -- sounds yummy!

speaking of yum, yesterday we met up with my friend janet at cafe pita + , which is the only bosnian restaurant in town. it was a bit of a drive for us, but soooo worth it! can't wait to go back!
